cafe 28…1800 irving park road…chicago…773.528.2883
when you dream about a restaurant then you know you’ve had a great meal…last night was my first experience at cafe 28…thanks to a $20 groupon. coupon for $40 worth of
food…
the décor is very very cute and I got mixed reviews about dining on the patio…however give me warm weather and a patio anytime and I am a happy chicagoan
the food was some of the most flavorful food I’ve had in a long time…they are cuban mexican fusion…some say it might be hot but I did not find anything that I ate being hot…okay maybe the yummy peppery butter they serve while you’re checking out the menu…we started with 2 salads for the 3 of us…each salad is big enough to share…then we had the absolutely scrumptious almond crusted halibut…jalapeno mashed potatoes…green beans and a mouthwatering sauce….seriously it could become addictive… and then I tasted a melt in your mouth pork special that would make any pork lover smile…all the food around us was absolutely beautiful…especially the shrimp comal…it appeared to be their answer to fajatias…but way over the top…I will be trying that at my next dinner there…anyone want to go out for dinner…call me
we finished our dinner with a heavenly pistachio rum cake…incredible and remember here…I am not a dessert person but I would order it again…oh and I forgot to mention they are famous for their $8.00 mojitos but their $10 martini…with grand marnier…was quite tasty
loved…loved…loved the place…reservations taken…$31 a person by using the groupon. coupon but it just tips the scales at $40 dinner…friendly atmosphere…great service…run don’t walk…
